Glastonbury Festival is like no other festival for food and drink. The diversity and abundance of food and drink on offer across the site is incredible. Unlike many festivals – you can bring all the food and drink you need for your personal use onto the site. So while you will not starve – it’s important to find time to refuel and stay hydrated.
Water – drinking water is available all over the site. Any tap with a blue pipe is safe to drink. They are usually by the toilets, at intersections or by WaterAid Kiosks. Bring a refillable bottle. No need to buy expensive bottled water from the vendors.
Alcohol – you can bring your own or buy from the vast array of bars onsite. There is one Co Op on site – be aware that it does not sell alcohol as it does at other festivals – so don’t rely on it.
Food – there is food for every palette and price range onsite – so make sure you try something new. Glastonbury organisers are keen to promote fair prices for food and as such, 300 food stallholders this year will be offering a £6 meal deal. At Glastonbury everything gets going pretty early and we don’t like to miss out on stuff – so we aim to eat first thing – something simple and nutritious for breakfast. We then carry snacks and aim to have one proper meal each day.
Food to take to Glastonbury – top tips
- Make sure you bring some food/drink to keep you going while you travel, get through security and set up camp. Stock up before the return journey – the queues for the buses, coaches, car parks are often slow at the end of the festival.
- We always bring easy breakfast food – enough to have a cup of tea, a carton of fruit juice and something nutritious to start the day.
- Snacks to keep us going – protein bars, crisps, nuts – anything that’s easy to throw in a rucksack and won’t melt or go off.
- Tinned/carton fruit – it won’t go off in the heat and is a refreshing change. There is a fruit stall near the Kidz Field – and the Co Op – but this is a good backup.
- Try something new. There really is food from all over the World. Forget burgers – you can get some absolute delights – explore food that you may never have tried before.
