We met ten years ago and have been having a huge amount of fun ever since.
We are not solo travellers – we travel together. We do not have the freedom to travel for months at an end in a van. We do not have the luxury to sell everything and disappear as nomads. Between us we have 5 twenty-something adult babies, who need our support and love – we have elder responsibilities, demanding jobs and a dog – all of which we love. We live in the UK – dividing our time between London and Bristol. We are in our golden era, that time in your life when responsibilities are waning and grabbing hold of every second to explore and immerse yourself in everything the Worlds has to offer is a priority.
We have always been avid travellers. But as you get older your tastes and requirements change. You learn what you enjoy doing and what your non-negotiables are.
When you are our age and walk into a travel agency, they rub their hands together. They know that they can convince you of the safety and comfort of the package they are putting together for you. They think that you have minimal time, limited IT skills or simply no confidence in putting it together yourself. So, they sell you an over-inflated package that involves you being chaperoned throughout the whole trip. They convince you that to do it yourself is difficult, that you need their in-depth knowledge, that without them your safety might be at risk. So, you give in, splash the cash and go home feeling that you have treated yourself to a well-deserved break. Whereas, in reality, none of this is the case.
This website was born out of our desire to share our experiences and learn from yours. We want this to be a community of people who share a love of exploring in the limited time our life commitments afford us. We will share practical tips – plus in depth advice on the countries we have visited.
We hope you will come along for the joy ride.
